The Cooks’ Bake Shop

My Project 3 website is called “The Cooks’ Bake Shop.” It’s a family bakery that sells cookies, brownies, and blondies, and its corporation is SugarSweets, Co. For its design in Dreamweaver, it’s been easy to do in some parts but hard for others. I barely have any problems with inserting the DIVs themselves into the website coding, and I’ve even been able to make some of the DIVs float to where I want them to on the Dreamweaver files that I’ve created for each of the webpages. However, I’m now having some issues with the design elements (header, images, text, etc.) looking very misplaced when I test out the webpages on browsers, and I’m not sure what to do about that. I’ve yet to link each page to each other, but I’m sure I can do that well. Also, I was thinking about putting in forty pages of this website like I did last time, but due to the overwhelming designing process and time constraints from the due date of the project, I’ve decided to leave out all the “You have selected (dessert’s name here)” pages because I now think they’re not that important anyway, and I’ll be using eight types of desserts for the website instead of sixteen. That is what I have so far on Project 3.

…. The end is near

Hey Everyone,

For my project 3 commerce site I created a bakery called Colorado Cookies.  The heading of each page is a rolling pin which is where I placed the logo and the navigation.  Body of the site is where the dough is and the right side is where any news or coupons reside.  The overall set up is pretty much the same for each page except for the body.  My goal for this site is to create a professional yet fun layout while making sure every step the customer travels threw is clear and easy.

I wanted to stress imagery and location/contact.  I imagine this bakery to be a local friendly place that strives to accommodate all lifestyles.  Any allergies the costumer has won’t get in the way of enjoying the sweeter side to life.  On the order page there is a box where you can specify your allergy or preference.

If you make a mistake on the order page its easy to remove from cart.  Cart is located at the top right corner of every page so u can easily check an edit your order.

I’m pretty well finished on the designing stages and starting now slicing my images.  Hopefully I get a better hang of things in dreamweaver for this project.

Butterville Site Progress

So far I have my homepage set in Dream Weaver. Pretty much all of my imagery is sliced and web optimized but I still have to go back into Photoshop to add product detail pages, and a thank you for shopping page. I plan to finish building the pages that I have already designed before going back to design the other pages. Today we learned how to create forms in Dreamweaver so I plan to use those in the product detail pages.

Project 3 progress

For my project 3 website on typography, I am still a little behind in the design stages because I got caught up in building the client website, and found it hard think about project 3 at the same time. For the typography project I want to create a David Carson style interactive web page to create your own compositions with quotes by David Carson that I chose and quotes that he talks about. Upon entering the page there will be a bunch of text scattered across the screen, and there will be options to sift through styles of typography using isotope Jquery. After the text is filtered the user will be able to drag and drop the text as well as resize it to create their own composition. Typography can convey a message just based on the initial feel of the text layout, “don’t mistake legibility with communication,” is the idea behind this project.

Progress on Project 3

Well, I just started slicing my photoshop document. I am behind into building my site. Like my previous project i met the deadlines with the website on photoshop, but whenever its time to do it in dreamweaver i always seem to fall behind. I think I’m subconsciously intimidated by dreamweaver cause i know i suck at it. However, I will start putting my slices in dreamweaver today.

Blog Assignment 11/30

Hi All,

317 & 417

This week I just want you to talk about your projects and where you are so far in terms of your design and development of your sites. Post screen captures and talk about some of the technical or design challenges you have faced in your build out.

Nook Color

If I had to choose between the Nook Color and the Amazon Kindle Fire, I would pick the Nook color. Many of the features between the two tablets are exactly the same or very close to each other. The one thing that really separates the two is that the Nook Color has the ability for the user to expand the memory of the device using a microSD card. Currently both units are the exact same price, so if I had to choose between the two, I would pick the Nook Color. In terms of customer service as well, Barnes and Noble is much more accessible than having to go through on online source to handle issues.

Ultimately, I wouldn’t buy a tablet from anyone. I would rather save that money and put it towards things I would actually use. If I had to choose between these or the IPad, I would pick an ipad solely because I am more familiar with apple products and their company as a whole. But for $500 someodd dollars, I would rather not buy any tablet and save the money and put it towards an actual new macbook.

New Tablet devices.

Nice try Amazon and B&N but no cigar. Your devices are too little and too late for a market that is dominated by one superior entity.

The positives, Both devices are smaller than the iPad making them easily holdable with one hand. Both devices are cheaper than the iPad. The Amazon fire is only $200 and the Nook is about $250 give or take. Both devices have usb hookups and micro Sd card slots unlike the iPad. The Nook has more internal storage space and available ram than the kindle fire. The Nook also has a higher screen resolution than the fire but both devices have the same 7 inch screen. Both devices have connection to online data bases ie. Amazon.com and the B&N bookstore. Both devices have wifi capability. There very evenly matched. They are $50 in price from one another, the nook has one G of RAM twice that of the fire.
