My site is coming along smoothly. I’ve had some fun with forms and playing with CSS and I find it very interesting. I think I’ve refined my motif and color scheme to where I want it to be. I’m very happy with my site. I need to finish up my cart page and create some forms for that but otherwise I’ve completed my site.
I finally finished my home page! (baby steps!) I have a little more content to include..but otherwise this page is done.
I was ahead initially, and I was getting the hang of things, but I keep altering my design. I don’t have to make adjustments in order for what I have to work in dreamweaver, I just keep changing my mind. I have it together now, and so far I haven’t run into any problems.
Oh, and Lynda.com is basically saving my life.
So far I have gotten most of my pages laid out in terms of the background, header, footer, etc. I can’t say that I’ve had much challenge or problems as of right now with this project, I think because I feel more confident about Dreamweaver after the first project and am having an easier time coding and troubleshooting myself (for the most part). The only thing I think will be a challenge for me is the navigation, since its already and image itself and the text on the tabs has to be an image as well. Also, I will be adding a drop shadow to the footer (kind of like my last website) which has been a little difficult getting the stripes to line up correctly so I’m still working on that. Other than that I’m still working on the photos but the content is coming along well. The top two images are the Photoshop document (left: product page & right: homepage) the bottom two are the Dreamweaver pages I’m working on.

I changed the first page into a splash page, and am trying to add some color into the designs instead of it remaining greyscale. I’m sticking with the circular format for most of the photos. I still have lots to code, but I’m feeling much more confident about this project than the last one as far as dreamweaver goes.
Im still trying to get my jquerry legs if you know what I mean. The overall idea that I wanted to do was to take the 3d box div and give it a parallax star scape background. To make this more interesting I plan on making the stars letterforms. Most of this hinges on weather or not I can get the box to react to the arrow keys. Thus-far I have had no luck doing. As far as the other design elements I am really not sure. The one thing that I know I can do is to define all of my css elements with jqurry. I will have a better idea by monday.
Bakers City is an e-commerce site that specializes in bread. For this project I thought it would be cool if i incorporated a splash page. I think the splash page is a cool idea because it gives the user a chance to get a feel of the site design before they start doing their shopping. The splash page features an enlarged version of the logo which then repeats itself on all the other pages. This splash page is the only one that will have to be formatted differently in terms of building in Dreamweaver because all the pages follow the same structure except for this one. That is why I am going to create two different kinds of CSS style sheets and 2 different indexes, and have them link. I don’t think the splash page is 100% necessary but I think it is a nice touch and makes the site more interactive and friendly.
So far for my project three i am a little bit behind. I’m designing my page to try to have the look and feel of a designer i’ve studied in another class. The designers name is Neville Brody. I would like to incorporate his fonts all over the main page of the website in various places and positions. I’m going to try to make the text animated so it can be rotated or slide across the page. I’m still looking into my options with jquery and figuring out where stuff is going to go on the page. If anyone has any ideas for other links to other pages please give me feedback. thanks.

Okay, so since pre-critique, I’ve changed quite a few things… Below are 2 samples of the pages I’ve revised – but with more revisions to come! I just got the logo from my client today so I have a few new elements to work into the site.
Anyway, I replaced the bottom onion image with one in which the onions don’t have black labels on them to interfere with the text. I made the companies tag line darker on the bottom (which I found out today will be changing), rearranged the search bar/cart, removed the word ‘home’ and reduced the size of the red sub headings on every page to create a more apparent hierarchy. These are all global changes.
On the Recipes page, I made a swatch for each recipe. There will be more so there is room to add them.
Each swatch will open to its own page so the viewer can print out the selected recipe.
I changed the Welcome/Home page by placing a caption under “Chef Dave’s” picture.
I will meet with the client tomorrow morning and get the text solidified etc. Then I will have a clear vision to work on the site this weekend!

Project 3, so far, it is a mystery! but will coming soon! I think something like that will be cool!
My website is called “Poppa’s Pastries” and it is an online entity made up of a network of Bronx based bakeshops. Family owned bakeries network because they have to, supermarkets like PriceChopper and Walmart produce their own baked goods at a fraction of the price and this puts a strain on these smaller, independent businesses. In an effort to stay competitive, convenient and most importantly relevant, these networks reach out to online buyer’s, hoping to take part in a market that will ultimately decide if their businesses continue to strive or collectively fail.
On a brighter note, I’ve changed a few things since Wednesday’s critique. I converted my typeface to Georgia as Professor Kerr recommended – giving the site a more traditional, dare I say classical feel. I did away with the five box spread on my product pages so that they now reflect my home navigation. I am no longer using stock images as I now have my own photos; some of them are kind of blurry, but there is only so much I could do – no one stands between Uncle Tommy and his pastries. I am sure that as the weekend progresses there will be more changes – some welcomed and some not – but so far things are going well…hopefully this sentiment will prevail. Good day all!
